How can just one day change so much in so many lives in the city of San Francisco? An 8.9 earthquake does not pick and choose its victims or survivors, some it takes, others it leaves to cope with the aftermath. Tom Cousins was hurting both physically and emotionally. He was told several times that when you lose someone, you will always hold their love in your heart and their memory in your mind. Would memories be enough for Tom in the years that still lay ahead in his life? Would those he lost ever fade away and leave him or would he just live with his reoccurring dreams of his wife and children, in this dark and coldness? His life will never be the same - it couldn't be. Tom, from his own injuries, would spend the rest of his life in the prison of his wheel chair, accompanied by the emptiness of his losses. Tom needs to dig deep for his own inner strength to go forward each day, and with help from his family and friends, things do improve, but they never really get better. Tom finally finds something that gives him the comfort he needs from the dark inside of him... just where he least expects it!

Part I of this report discusses the short- and medium-term growth prospects for countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The region is expected to grow at a subdued rate of 0.6 percent in 2019, rising to 2.6 percent in 2020 and 2.9 percent in 2021. The growth forecast for 2019 is revised down by 0.8 percentage points from the April 2019 projection. MENA’s economic outlook is subject to substantial downside risks—most notably, intensified global economic headwinds and rising geopolitical tensions. Part II argues that promoting fair competition is key for MENA countries to complete the transition from an administered to a market economy. Part II first examines current competition policies in MENA countries and to promote fair competition calls for strengthening competition law and enforcement agencies. It also calls for corporatizing state-owned enterprises, promoting the private sector and creating a level-playing field between them. Any moves to reform MENA economies would be aided by professional management of public assets, which could tap into a new source of national wealth.

It's filled with 500 Connection Point Questions that inspire teens to read the Bible more closely and think about its application to their lives more carefully. Over 150 “Then & Now” features weave together the stories of young people today with Scripture in ways that equip teens to talk more openly about God and build deeper, more genuine relationships with each other. Relevant, thought-provoking, and interactive, theThree-Story Bible invites teens to discover where their stories and God's story intersect through relational discipleship and engagement. The New Living Translation breathes life into even the most difficult-to-understand Bible passages, but even more powerful are stories of how people's lives are changing as the words speak directly to their hearts.

'A few seconds ago, I wanted to die. Now I know the reality is I just don't want to live. I never have from the moment I started falling, twenty-one and a half years ago. I'm alive. Shit.' Jeff Randall originally wrote his memoir by hand, the ink spattering on the page whenever he was writing about something painful and looping beautifully whenever he was recalling happier moments. He wrote it in a matter of weeks and delivered it to his estranged wife in an attempt to explain the demons that had haunted him for so long and that had been responsible for destroying their relationship. Love Hurts is the powerful true story of a boy whose tormented childhood was characterised by violence and isolation. He was raised in a fragmented, chaotic family, in a world where debt and poverty were the norm. From a young age, he yearned to escape but was sucked into an ever-decreasing spiral of bad choices and self-loathing. This brutally honest book charts the life of a boy who just wanted to be loved. And by confronting the nightmare of his childhood and coming to terms with his past, he has learned to love himself.

Nominated for the 2017 Edgar Award for Best Novel From the critically acclaimed and award-winning author comes a gritty, atmospheric new series about the other side of Long Island, far from the wealth of the Hamptons, where real people live—and die. Gus Murphy thought he had the world all figured out. A retired Suffolk County cop, Gus had everything a man could want: a great marriage, two kids, a nice house, and the rest of his life ahead of him. But when tragedy strikes, his life is thrown into complete disarray. In the course of a single deadly moment, his family is blown apart and he is transformed from a man who believes he understands everything into a man who understands nothing. Divorced and working as a courtesy van driver for the run-down hotel in which he has a room, Gus has settled into a mindless, soulless routine that barely keeps his grief at arm’s length. But Gus’s comfortable waking trance comes to an end when ex-con Tommy Delcamino asks him for help. Four months earlier, Tommy’s son T.J.’s battered body was discovered in a wooded lot, yet the Suffolk County PD doesn’t seem interested in pursuing the killers. In desperation, Tommy seeks out the only cop he ever trusted—Gus Murphy. Gus reluctantly agrees to see what he can uncover. As he begins to sweep away the layers of dust that have collected over the case during the intervening months, Gus finds that Tommy was telling the truth. It seems that everyone involved with the late T.J Delcamino—from his best friend, to a gang enforcer, to a mafia capo, and even the police—has something to hide, and all are willing to go to extreme lengths to keep it hidden. It’s a dangerous favor Gus has taken on as he claws his way back to take a place among the living, while searching through the sewers for a killer.
